Terms of Service
Last updated: September 2026
These terms govern your use of Tape, a free browser-based tool for applying VHS-style visual effects to photos and cassette-style effects to audio. By using Tape, you agree to the terms below.
The service
Tape is provided free of charge, without accounts, subscriptions, or usage limits. All image and audio processing happens locally in your browser — we don't operate servers that receive, store, or process your files.
Your content
You retain full ownership and responsibility for any photos or audio you process with Tape. Since Tape never receives or stores your files, we have no claim to them and no ability to view, listen to, use, or distribute them.
You're responsible for making sure you have the right to use and edit any file you load into Tape — for example, not processing images or recordings you don't own or don't have permission to modify.
Acceptable use
Please don't use Tape to process or generate content that is illegal, that infringes someone else's rights, or that is intended to harass, defame, or deceive others.
No warranty
Tape is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We make reasonable efforts to keep it working correctly, but we don't guarantee the tool will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Tape and its creators aren't liable for any damages arising from your use of the tool, including loss of data or unintended results from image or audio processing.
Third-party libraries
Tape uses open-source third-party libraries (for example, for the crop tool and audio encoding) under their respective licenses. Their use in Tape doesn't imply any endorsement by their authors.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Tape after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
